Welcome to The Experience Collective
Share your story. Shape our collective experience.
A living archive of spiritual autobiographies and personal reflections.
The Experience Collective is a space for those who have embarked on a journey of self-discovery, meaning-making, and relationship with the sacred—however they define it.
Here, you’ll find the voices of participants who have courageously explored their inner landscapes through the Discover Your Spiritual Autobiography workshop. These are stories of transformation, searching, reconnection, and grace. Each piece you see here is a window into the heart of someone who dared to ask the big questions about who they are, where they’ve been, and where they are going.
Why We Exist
The Experience Collective was born from a desire to honor and share the deeply personal and often profoundly moving stories that emerge through this process. Whether told through words, music, art, or movement, these expressions offer a powerful reminder: we are not alone on this path.
As our community grows, we will continue to celebrate the diversity of experience and invite new forms of creative expression. For now, we begin with written pieces from participants who have graciously agreed to share their work.

A Glimpse Inside
Belief and Faith
Searching, seeking, questioning, and all the while, faith is present. My spiritual autobiography is continually evolving. There is a dynamic, restless nature to my inquiries. I can easily be impatient and demanding. Yet, I love the feeling of peace and calm so ready...
My Spiritual Autobiography
I grew up in a family where religion wasn’t a part of family life. I know nothing of my dad’s side as it relates to religion. I don’t know if he was raised a Catholic. I don’t recall his making any comments about my not going to church. As for my mother’s side, I know...
Faith Derailed
I have a few photos from the very young years of Butch and I, before five. We are so full of light. Usually dressed in Sunday clothes, although I don’t remember going to church much. But I likely would have had my first communion at six. Don’t remember anything about...
Spiritual Journey – a random walk
1: O little town of Bethlehem God the Father and the baby Jesus were the spiritual lights in my young life. Bible stories, especially about the birth of Jesus, were magic, lit with words like swaddling, manger, and dazzlers like gold, frankincense and myhrr. The son...
Transformative Experiences
The one thing I was completely sure about was having children. Every other choice up to then was a combination of doing what was expected, fulfilling someone else’s dreams, and reacting to my upbringing. Saying this outloud, it makes sense to me now why becoming a...
Crisis of Faith?
Walking along a narrow sidewalk in Florence, Italy, I heard my dad from behind me mention his adult confirmation classes at his local Catholic church. It was December 2022, we had just started a two week family trip to Italy for Christmas. Once I had a chance to talk...
