Chris Roberts-Antieau Artist Statement

A visit last week to Santa Fe, NM included all the usual stops, the Plaza, Canyon Road, and Café Pasqual’s. The unexpected stop was at Antieau Gallery. A taxidermied swan covered with an embroidered, transparent fabric with beautifully rendered flora and fauna in the window proved irresistible. I needed to know more.

Artist Chris Roberts-Antieau’s space is gallery and studio combined. Her work is beautiful, funny, ironic, relevant, and so much more. Here is her artist statement, a wonderful reminder to all of us. Enjoy and create joy.

While neither grandmother owned anything very fancy or costly, I never got tired of combing through the treasure trove of their dressers and closets.
